Enrolment, Fees and Charges

All applications for enrolment to The Armidale Waldorf School are processed in order of receipt and consideration is given to the applicants support for the ethos of the school, whether any siblings are already attending the school and for students transferring from other Steiner schools. All enquiries regarding fees, a tour of the school and enrolment are directed to administration in the first instance. The educational administrator or the respective class teacher will contact you for further discussion and to arrange an interview.

Fees per term (4 terms per year) effective Jan 2009:


    • Kinder – Year 2 $824 (with sibling discount: 2nd child $660; 3rd $412; 4th free)

    • Years 3 - 6 $946 (with sibling discount: 2nd child $757; 3rd $473; 4th free)

    • Years 7 - 8 $998 (with sibling discount: 2nd child $810; 3rd $506; 4th free)

Preschool fees are available on application and, provided these costs are not already attracting a subsidy, a sibling rebate of 20% for the 2nd child and 30% for subsequent children is applicable.

Class camp costs:
Excursions in the form of camps are an integral part of the curriculum and are invoiced separately. Parents will be advised by the class teacher of the date, destination, duration and cost of camps. These will range from day trips for Kindergarten students through to two (or more) longer camps for years 7 & 8. The actual cost of camps will be determined by the itinerary and the class make-up.

The following is provided as a per year guide:

  • Years 7 & 8 $950.00 (being the approximate cost of 3 camps of up to 2 wks duration)

  • Year 5 & 6 $450.00 (being the approximate cost of 2 camps)

  • Year 3 & 4 $350.00 (being the approximate cost of 2 camps)

  • Year 2 $160.00 (being the approximate cost of 1 camp)

  • Year 1 $80.00 (being the approximate cost of 1 camp)

  • Kindergarten negligible
NB: Class fundraisers are, on occasion, organised to cover additional costs associated with excursions.

Various small whole school outings and performances fee:

$20 per term per student applies to cover the cost of sundry day outings and performances.

Sports and curriculum related day excursions:
Such excursions may include swimming lessons, rock wall climbing, visits to museums, art galleries etc. and will apply only if the $20 per term allowance is exceeded.


Insurance:
The school arranges 24 hour a day, 7 days per week personal accident coverage for all students at a cost of approximately $30 per child per annum.


Recorder Cost:

A wooden recorder will be purchased on behalf of each child in Year 1 (and those enrolling beyond Year 1) at a cost of approximately $70.00. This recorder is your property but needs to remain at school during enrolment.


Parents & Friends Association (P & F):

There is an automatic joining fee of $5.50 per annum per family to cover membership costs of the NSW Parents Council. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to volunteer their time to the P & F to contribute to the social realm of the school and create community.


Maintenance Levy:
To assist in the cost of maintaining the school, a maintenance levy of $125.00 per parent per year will appear on invoices in term 1. Those parents who attend a minimum of 5 hours per year at a working bee will receive a rebate for the full amount.


Payment Options:
Fees are payable in advance for each term either by cash, cheque or transfer. Terms are strictly 14 days. A 5% discount is given for yearly fee payments made in advance. At the discretion of the Bursar, a fortnightly direct debit payment may be acceptable to facilitate more manageable regular payments (and can be calculated to include excursion costs if requested).

Opportunities to Work in the School:
A number of paid positions within the school have been identified as an avenue to off-set fees. These positions include maintenance, gardening, cleaning & library. In order to participate in this scheme you are required to provide an A.B.N. If you are interested in applying for a position, please discuss this with the Bursar.

Company Membership:
This recommended affiliation provides all parents with equity within the school community. It allows full voting rights at Annual General Meetings and any extraordinary company meetings and is a prerequisite for election onto the Council (Board of Directors). A fee of $5.50 per annum applies.

Musical Instrument Hire
Year 3 violin students are provided with an instrument for their compulsory year 3 tuition. In the event of loss or damage charges for the replacement or repair will apply. A limited number of stringed instruments are also available for hire through the school for older students. A fee of $15 per term will be charged to cover the cost of maintenance and, as above, in the event of loss or damage costs will apply. Tax Deductible Funds:

Building Fund Donation:
Once a year, a tax deductible donation to the building fund is invited from each family. An amount of $150 is suggested on the Term 1 invoice.

    Library Fund: Families may like to make donations to this fund.
